Grow and observe swab samples taken from surfaces that is use every day and discus what the findings mean. MacConkey Agar is used to encourage the growth of certain bacteria namely, coli-forms, which are a group of bacteria found in fecal contamination and are linked to diseases like traveler’s diarrhea and (Escherichia coli) infections. Students will further investigating how effective detergents are in killing microorganisms by using various brands and types to test the effectiveness on microorganisms grown on the agar.
